A good story...
This entry isn’t really related to Charlottesville Real Estate, but it’s a good story.
I participate in a cow share program and it was my turn to pick up the milk. The farmer who boards the cow has a lot of chickens on the farm along with other animals. As you would imagine, the chickens roam around freely. A pack happened to be on the road to the barn this morning, and I had to go slowly so as not to run them over. I left the farm and came home to drop off the milk.
After leaving home I went to the office to get some work done. I stayed at the office and caught up on email etc., for a while, then left for Earlysville. Afterwards, I headed to the bank to get some cash and run some errands on Rt. 29. While I was at the ATM a group of guys on lunch break who were sitting on the back of their truck came up to me. One of them said I had something on my rear axel. He asked “Do you have an orange cat?”, “No.” I replied. One of the guys then kneeled to the ground to get a closer look, let out a laugh and said “There’s a chicken up there. A chicken!”
I pulled into the shopping center next door, went inside a big box store to get a couple of items, and when I came out the chicken had decided to get down and stretch her legs. People were walking by looking, and shaking their head. Not something you see every day; a chicken walking around a huge asphalt parking lot. I found a box and grabbed the chicken. I put her in the car and took her back down to the farm. This time, as I was driving along at 65- 70 mph, the chicken was inside rather than on the axel.
