Death, Taxes and Real Estate Listings

A client told me this morning, frustrated by what was available to her, “Real estate is like death and taxes; there will always be more.” She didn’t find anything to her liking this time around, but she may be back to look again. I certainly hope so.

On the subject of taxes, the new 2007 Assessments have recently been delivered to the property owners of Charlottesville & Albemarle County. County Assessments in the past have been every two years, now they will be changing them to an annual basis. Property rate increases range from 22.5% to 33.4%, the Western Albemarle area having the steepest increase.

The City of Charlottesville also mailed their new assessments this week with a 15% increase on residential property. Commercial properties increased 11% over the past year.
