Lewis & Clark coming closer to Charlottesville

“Amid heated debate, the Albemarle County Planning Commission on Tuesday endorsed a special-use permit that would allow the construction of the Lewis & Clark Exploratory Center in Darden Towe Park.”

The City and County have been for years trying to get tourists to stay overnight in Charlottesville, instead of making it a day trip. Staying overnight would help out the tax revenue for the City and the County. With the combined 10% tax on lodging and meals for the County, and roughly the same in the City, both would profit as well as Hotels and Restaurants.
